2020 Acura MDX vs 2020 Audi Q7

2020 Acura MDX vs 2020 Audi Q7

Sporty exteriors, plush, tech-filled interiors, and lots of standard safety features make the 2020 Acura MDX and Audi Q7 two of the most popular SUVs on the road today. Both vehicles offer excellent “bang for their buck,” and each has its own loyal fan base. While the two have plenty of great features in common, they also differ in several important areas, as well. Here’s a look at how the two stacks up in most of the major categories.

Entertainment and Technology

Base models of both vehicles offer perfectly acceptable sound systems but, the higher trims on each really takes things up a notch. The MDX features Acura’s ELS Studio Premium 10-speaker audio system with an AM/FM/CD/HD/Sat radio, a hard disk drive for media storage, and Song By Voice. Upper Q7 models come with a comparable Bose Surround Sound System. Both infotainment systems include colour touchscreen controls and Bluetooth connectivity.

Interior

As expected, comfort comes standard on both models with features like leather upholstery, heated seats, and tri-zone automatic climate control. Standard One-Touch Smart Slide seating on the MDX makes getting in and out of the third row a breeze. Head, shoulder, and legroom numbers match up almost identically for the two, and both vehicles seat up to seven passengers.

Safety

Acura’s AcuraWatch safety suite makes the 2020 MDX one of the safest vehicles on the road today. The AcuraWatch safety suite includes Lane-Keep Assist, Automatic Emergency Braking, Forward Collision Warning, Adaptive Cruise Control, and Lane-Departure Warning. Standard Q7 safety features include Xenon Plus headlights, LED daytime running lights, Audi Pre Sense Basic, and a Rear View Camera.

Performance

Audi offers the Q7 with a choice of two engines – a turbocharged 248-hp 2.0L 4-cylinder or a supercharged 329-hp 3.0L 6-cylinder. Both engines are linked to an 8-speed Tiptronic transmission, and every Audi Q7 comes with Audi Quattro All-Wheel Drive. A larger engine, as well as a hybrid option, gives the MDX a considerable edge in this category. Along with a 290-hp 3.5L V-6, Acura also produces the MDX with 3.0L V-6 assisted by a 3-motor electric engine for the Sport Hybrid SH-AWD models.

Overall, the 2020 Acura MDX and Audi Q7 offer many similar features. They do, however, differ in several essential areas.
